what & why

what & why
  • What gear do I need?
We’ll prepare a specific gear list for each trip. But in any case you’ll need all the basic stuff for outdoor activities (clothing, tent, sleeping equipment, cooking equipment, backpack, clothing, shoes, etc). A lot of this stuff can also be borrowed, rented or bought second hand to save cost. There is always a way :)
  • How fit do I need to be?
You don't need to be Chuck Norris, but you should be reasonably fit. You'll be walking, biking, or paddling for several days, often carrying your own gear. Leave your fear of heights and claustrophobia behind. Bring your stamina.
  • How much does each trip cost?
We curate each trip in direct collaboration with local service providers, bypassing third-party intermediaries such as booking agents or travel agencies. While this approach demands more effort, it enables us to keep trips affordable and accessible. Our aim is to keep the total cost under €1800, which covers flights, accommodation, meals, transportation, equipment rental, and a fee for trip preparation and guiding.
  • Why do we do this?
Because when you're buried in spreadsheets, deadlines, meetings, kids and hipster restaurant dinners it’s to hard to find the time to step away and feel what really matters. A regular escape into silence, nature, and physical challenge helps put things back into perspective. You're welcome.
  • How can I join?
If you're interested in joining, feel free to send us a message through the contact form. We'd love to hear a bit about you and why you'd like to become a member. The next step is an in-person meeting with at least three of our current members to see if there's a good fit. After that, we'll let you know if you can officially join.
  • Who can join?
While enjoying adventurous activities and being reasonably fit is important, having the right mindset is also key. On our trips, challenging situations can arise that affect everyone—weather can change unexpectedly, ice may break, ropes snap, water supplies run low, injuries happen, and paths can be lost. In these moments we are dependent on each other to stay positive and focus on finding solutions That's why we’re selective about who we invite to join.
  • When are the trips?
We don’t plan specific dates too far in advance, but we generally aim for three trips a year—in September, January, and May—while avoiding school holidays. To minimize vacation days, we make sure to include a weekend in the itinerary. Each trip typically lasts 4 to 6 days, ensuring they fit within our busy schedules.
  • What about insurance?
Smart idea! Every member is expected to arrange their own travel insurance. Please ensure that the policy covers outdoor activities such as climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and canoeing. It's important to be adequately protected while enjoying our adventures. Whether coverage for these activities is included in a your travel insurance policy depends on the specific policy and provider. Many standard policies may not cover high-risk activities, extreme sports or emergency extractions. Always read the fine print to check for exclusions related to hazardous activities. Some insurers offer add-ons for specific activities, so you might be able to enhance your coverage for an extra cost. Additionally, consider using specialized providers that cater to adventure sports, as they may offer better coverage. Make sure the policy also includes emergency medical evacuation, especially for activities in remote locations.
